Temperance. A deliberate act of restraint.
Temperance began like any other. Rooted in curiosity, transformation, and the constant reinvention of what came before. With each new collection, I challenge myself to begin again. To reimagine the overlooked. Often working with discarded or forgotten materials and sculpting them into something unexpected. Something other.
This one began with the discovery of a sheet of plexiglass abandoned in the back of an old sign shop. Once transparent, now perfectly patinated and yellowed with age. Its scuffed, marked surface, perfectly blemished, became the foundation. My canvas.
Restraint was on my mind. I chose to place only a singular abstractly painted panel on it, a deliberate departure from my previous collection Layers of Consciousness, where I composed colourful panels one over another. Restraint in the material. Restraint in its creation.
We have the world in the palm of our hands. All of it loud, all of it competing for our time and attention. We have become overwhelmed and desensitized. This collection is my response to all of that.
These works are for the rooms in your home where you exhale.
